Professional tennis

A few times a year, my heart is filled with joy as professional tennis players descend on the arenas to play exclusively for me... Coz they love me that much.

I love football intensely BUT tennis is ultimately my number one.

My favourite tennis players over time

1992-2001: Pete Sampras

1992-1996: Monica Seles

1997: Martina Hingis (I know!)

2001-2006: Venus Williams

2001- present: Serena Williams

2001- present: Roger Federer

Other players I like right now:

The 3 Frenchies (Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon, Gael Monfils)

Rafael Nadal (except when he's playing Federer)

David Ferrer

Kim Clijsters (except if she's playing Serena)

Na Li

The game is fast, entertaining, elegant with a hard edge. It's just beautiful to watch.

Obsessed with Tennis (especially of the Grand slam variety)

Scott Disick

Now this is the LAST man I would choose to be my baby daddy or lover. He is ridiculously untamed as a human being and I'm not sure he knows the importance of being earnest or honest.

Either way, this is one man who can dress! Wow! I love loooove his style! It's crazy on point and he never compromises.

Also I think he's hilarious. I wouldn't wanna be with him romantically but I'd love to hang out with him. I think he's a riot.

This however, is purely a post dedicated to the slickness of his style. There are much better photos but damn Kourtney is all over the pics :/

Prince Harry

I’m infatuated with one, Henry Charles Albert David. This man is just about the sexiest white man alive! I'm sure the fact that he's a PRINCE ups the ante but he has so much SWAG!! He just drips cool and there's something about his smile that lets you know he loves being bad but that only a select few know about his hijinks ;)

Chelsy Drugged-Piggy Davy is the luckiest girl alive... But can she please just look like she doesn’t sprinkle ‘shrooms on her cereal. She always looks too high for life. And then doesn’t think too highly of brushes either. UGH!

I would like just 45 minutes in a room alone with Harry please? Anyone connected to the Royal family, please let him know this. It's tres important for my development that this happen! I really hope that Charles’ genes don’t infect Harry like they did William and his ‘impandla’.

Sporty, fun, charming, hot, bad!

Dita Von Teese

This diva is the most famous burlesque dancer in the world; she’s also acted in a few films and walked the runways for (among others) Christian Dior and Marc Jacobs.

She is blazing her own trail and really bold in her fashion choices both on and off the red carpet. She is definitely dedicated- her love for corsets has reduced the size of her waist. She’s always front row at fashion shows and on stage.

She has a ballet background which she used at her burlesque shows which she’d partly perform on Pointe. I think burlesque is incredibly sensual and I love the vintage feel.

She is awkwardly and timelessly beautiful and her salute to the 40s is undeniably chic.

Tribute: Michael Jackson

This man was weird, weird, WEIRD! But the musical genius that was Michael Jackson is astounding.

I recently went to see ‘Thriller Live: a Tribute to Michael Jackson’ in London’s West End (this is the town equivalent of name dropping *ahem*). Anyway, there were 4 singers including a “young MJ” who performed his most popular songs with dancers. I thoroughly enjoyed the show but more than that, just hearing all his hit songs, reminded me how much I love his music and how influential he really was.

There were a few songs I felt were missing and needed to be performed because of how much I love them but I think that might be selfish.

The missing songs:

‘Stranger in Moscow’

‘Liberian Girl’

‘Remember the Time’

‘You are not alone’

‘You rock my world’

It started with his Motown hits with the Jackson 5 (The Jacksons)… My favourites are ‘I Want You Back’ and ‘Enjoy Yourself’. I can’t help but be in a great mood when those songs play.

And then the MJ songs from ‘Off the Wall’ like ‘Don’t stop till you get enough and ‘Rock with you’ and then the biggest selling album of all time, ‘Thriller’ which had amazing hits like ‘Beat It’, ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Human Nature’. His other albums: ‘Bad’, ‘Dangerous’, ‘History’ and ‘Invincible’ were also just phenomenal wonders of the world… His movies, not so much -_-

Then his music videos were a cultural powerhouse all on their own. He started the ‘mini movie’ craze which saw story lines and scripts being added to music videos with the biggest being ‘Thriller’ and then added another video staple when he had his celebrity friends guest star in his music videos ‘Liberian Girl’, ‘In the Closet’ and ‘Black and White’. He was also the first artist to truly use dance and choreography to tell part of the story, and to have signature pieces of clothing.

He was a big philanthropist and loved highlighting the plight of children, especially those in 3rd world countries.

Even though there was tons of controversy surrounding Michael (the plastic surgery and child abuse allegations), I always believed that even though he was a complete weird freak man, he was innocent and taken advantage of, right till the end of his life… Especially by that evil dictator man he called his father.

So many artists have tried to emulate MJ, from his choreography and dance style, to his mannerisms, to the way he uses his voice: From Usher and Ne-Yo, to Destiny’s Child, Lady Gaga and beyond.

RIP MJ…

City of the week: Havana

All the photos were taken by me (except the ones I'm in)I have been so blessed as to see this amazing city for myself in december 2010.

This is by far the most beautiful place I've been to. And not beautiful in the conventional sense but more that the beauty is in that which ordinary eyes might deem old and broken down. Not only is Havana full of energy and culture but the people (despite there not being much money in their pockets) are super friendly and always up for a good time. They have strong family values which is apparent in the small things, like them spending New Year's eve indoors with relatives.

People who know me, know I'm a big fiend for Cuban Jazz (hmm, another blog post idea) and have a long term relationship with The Buena Vista Social Club who I got to see play LIVE on New year's eve.

Also I have a strange obsession with Commandant Che Guevara and his homie Fidel Castro. I know the west have deemed them villians and I admit, there was some crazy in them both but I also saw something in the people that is still so eternally grateful to the revolution (there are signs and flags everywhere) and Che is a national hero. It was awesome seeing where Che won various battles against the then government.

This whole trip was full of bucket-list moments. Can't wait to go back!
