Britney Spears-Hold It Against Me

"Hold It Against Me" is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears. It was released as the first single from her upcoming seventh studio album. "Hold It Against Me" was written by Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Bonnie McKee and Billboard, while being produced by Luke, Martin and Billboard. After a demo version of the song performed by McKee was leaked, the finished version premiered on January 10, 2011. Musically, "Hold It Against Me" features industrial beats, a dubstep-influenced breakdown and a final chorus with elements of rave. The lyrics portray the singer seducing someone on the dancefloor, while the chorus revolves around pick-up lines. Most critics praised the song, although some criticized its lyrical content. "Hold It Against Me" has reached the top ten in Australia and Ireland, while also charting in Finland and in minor charts of Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States. A music video for the song is set to be filmed in the third week of January 2011.

"Hold It Against Me", was written by Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Bonnie McKee and Billboard, while being produced by Luke, Martin and Billboard. After rumored lyrics for the song surfaced on the web, Luke commented in his Twitter account on December 9, 2010, "I / we never wrote a song called 'don't hold it against me'.... BewaRe of InaccuraTe info kids ;-) We did write 'hold it against me' but those lyrics are NOT the lyrics ...."It was widely reported by several news outlets that "Hold It Against Me" would premiere on January 7, 2011. However, this was denied by Spears's manager Adam Leber. An early demo of the track performed by McKee was leaked on January 6, 2011.The same day, Spears released the cover art and commented via Twitter, "Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that's good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday."On January 10, 2011, the single became available for streaming on Ryan Seacrest's website, who premiered it on his radio show shortly after.Spears tweeted, "Don't #HOLDITAGAINSTME for coming out early. I couldn't wait any longer. Hope you don't mind....." The radio premiere caused several sites to crash from too much traffic."Hold It Against Me" was released digitally in the United States and Canada on iTunes at 00:00 EST (05:00 UTC), where it will be available exclusively until January 18, 2011.Initially, the single was going to be released in the United Kingdom on February 20, 2011, but the date was moved up to January 17, 2011, due to overwhelming demand.

"Hold It Against Me" is three minutes and forty-nine seconds long.It is a dance-pop song that blends pulsating industrial and trance beats with elements of grime.Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone commented the song "recalls the synth-gloom ambience of Britney's 2007 gem, Blackout."The hook was noted by Ann Powers of Los Angeles Times to be reminiscent of "(I Just) Died in Your Arms" (1986) by Cutting Crew.Spears's vocals has been described as "a bit treated" but not heavily Autotuned. The poppy, Max Martin-styled chorus contains lilting synths, that lift her vocals and contrast them with the hard beats. After the second chorus, the beats drop and Spears speaks the lines in the hook. This is followed by a dubstep-influenced breakdown, which lasts about thirty seconds and features Spears moaning, blowing kisses and singing the lines "Gimme something good, don't wanna wait I want it now / Pop it like a hood and show me how you work it out.""Hold It Against Me" continues with a second breakdown, which is more similar to the sound of the track. The final chorus contains a smattering of rave chords and the song has a sudden end.Lyrically, "Hold It Against Me" talks about seducing someone in the dancefloor. The chorus revolves around pick-up lines, with Spears singing, "If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?" and "Cause you feel like paradise, and I need a vacation tonight." James Montgomery of MTV compared the feeling of the lyrics to "If U Seek Amy" (2009).The first pick-up line was compared by Slate to "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" (1979) by The Bellamy Brothers.Although The Bellamy Brothers later said they felt "ripped off due to the lack of originality with Spears' song", they told TMZ.com that they would not be perusing any legal action regarding the matter.

On January 10, 2011, "Hold It Against Me" set the record for most radio plays in one day in the United States, registering 619 plays on Mediabase and 595 plays on Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS).It also broke Mediabase's one week plays record, with 3,866 spins. The following week, "Hold It Against Me" debuted at number sixteen on Billboard's Pop Songs with 4,071 plays, the highest detections total by a new entry in the chart's history. It was also tied with Madonna's "Frozen" for the second highest debut.Billboard reported that "Hold It Against Me" was likely to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to strong airplay and sales which are expected to exceed 400,000 copies, in the United States alone. On January 17, 2011 "Hold It Against Me" debuted at number ten on the Australian Singles Chart. The song debuted at number eleven on the Finnish Singles Chart. It also debuted at number six on the Irish Singles Chart, the week ending January 13, 2011.A music video for "Hold It Against Me" is set to be filmed in the third week of January 2011, with Jonas Åkerlund directing, and Brian Friedman as the choreographer.Open auditions were held on December 22, 2010, and the dancers had to learn a routine set to Robyn's "Criminal Intent" (2010). On January 14, 2011, Friedman was interviewed by MTV's The Seven, where he talked about the music video. Calling it "a dance video", he said about the rehearsals

Lady Gaga Telephone

"Telephone" is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga from her third extended play (EP), and second major release The Fame Monster (2009), featuring American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles. The song was written by Gaga and Rodney Jerkins. The main inspiration of the song was Gaga's fear of not being able to enjoy herself because of her dedication to her career, hence the lyrics portray the singer as preferring the dance floor, rather than answering her lover's phone calls. Gaga explained that the telephone addressed in the lyrics of the song, is in reality a person telling her to continue working harder. Musically, the song consists of an expanded bridge, verse-rap and an epilogue, where the voice of an operator announces that the phone line is not reachable. Knowles appears in the middle of the song, singing the verses in a rapid-fire way, accompanied by double beats.
"Telephone" was appreciated by contemporary critics who frequently noted it as a stand-out track from The Fame Monster. The song charted in a number of countries due to digital sales, namely in the United States, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Hungary, following the album's release. The song has been particularly successful in Europe, reaching the top of the charts in Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom. Lady Gaga performed an acoustic rendition of "Telephone" mixed with "Dance in the Dark" at the 2010 BRIT Awards in memory of Alexander McQueen. It was also added to the 2010 setlist of The Monster Ball Tour.

Gaga explained that the music video is a continuation of the video for "Paparazzi", and is also shot as a short film. The video features Gaga in a prison, from where she gets bailed out by Beyoncé. Soon after, they go to a diner where they kill the guests having breakfast. Gaga and Knowles escape from the diner, and end up in a high speed police chase. Paying homage to Quentin Tarantino and his films Kill Bill (2003–04) and Pulp Fiction (1994) and Callie Khouri's Thelma & Louise, the video was positively received by critics. The song received a Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category.Lady Gaga originally wrote "Telephone", with Rodney Jerkins, for Britney Spears. However, after Spears' label rejected it Gaga recorded the song as a collaboration with Beyoncé Knowles for The Fame Monster.Gaga said, "I wrote it for her a long time ago and she just didn't use it for her album. It's fine because I love the song and I get to perform it now."Additionally, the guest vocalist was originally going to be Spears, but ultimately Gaga made Knowles the featured vocalist instead.
The main inspiration behind the song was Gaga's fear of suffocation as she felt that she seldom found time to just let loose and have fun. She further clarified,
Fear of suffocation—something that I have or fear is never being able to enjoy myself, ... 'Cause I love my work so much, I find it really hard to go out and have a good time. ... I don't go to nightclubs, ... You don't see pictures of me falling out of a club drunk. I don't go—and that's because I usually go and then, you know, a whiskey and a half into it, I got to get back to work.

"Telephone" was written by Lady Gaga, Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Lazonate Franklin and Knowles. Although constructed as a duet, Knowles first appearance is in the middle verse. She sings her lyrics through a brief interlude, and later backs the chorus during the rest of the song. The song starts off unassumingly, with Gaga singing in a solemn voice over a harp melody, which changes immediately to a pounding beat. Essentially, Gaga is in a club and her boyfriend keeps ringing, but she can not talk as she was drinking and dancing to her favourite song. The chorus runs as follows: "Stop calling, stop calling, I don't want to talk anymore."

"Telephone" consists of an expanded bridge, verse-rap and an epilogue where a voice announces that the telephone line is not reachable at that moment.According to the sheet music published at Musicnotes.com by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the song is set in the time signature of common time, with a tempo of 122 beats per minute. Gaga's vocals range from the low-note of F3 to the high-note of C5. It is set in the key of F minor, specifically, F Dorian mode, and has a basic sequence of Fm–A♭–B♭–Fm as its chord progression."Telephone"'s lyrics relate to the singer preferring the dance floor to answering someone's call. The verses are sung in a rapid-fire way, accompanied by double beats.According to Gaga, the phone addressed in the lyrics of the song is not a physical phone, but a person in her head telling her to keep working harder and harder. Gaga explained, "That's my fear—that the phone's ringing and my head's ringing, ... Whether it's a telephone or it's just the thoughts in your head, that's another fear."
